Social Innovation (SI) is a novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable, or just than current solutions. Innovation is co-creation of value by actors combining and exchanging resources within value constellations.

Social Innovation as a process of changing social relations. SI is a qualitative property of ideas, objects, activities or (groups of) persons, who can be considered to be socially innovative to the extent that they contribute to changing social relations.
